ING plays an active role in society as a whole through its arts and culture programme, and considers it a privilege to help reveal the treasures of our cultures to as many interested people as possible.
In 2008, ING Insurance Asia/Pacific sponsored and organised an exhibition of Rembrandt etchings in Hong Kong. This was a joint effort with Douwes Fine Arts and celebrated 200 years of trade between Holland and Hong Kong with the presentation of the 17th Century Rembrandt prints and etchings. The previous year had seen ING help bring an impressive exhibition of Dutch artists to Shanghai as the presenting partner Amsterdam’s Rijksuseum exhibition in the Shanghai Museum. The works of art were ones that had never before travelled to the People's Republic of China and provided a great opportunity for visitors to China's financial hub to see Dutch masterpieces firsthand.
To further illustrate the company’s commitment to art, ING not only believes it is important to sponsor arts in society, but also to incorporate art into the work environment. Globally, ING has an extensive art collection, consisting of approximately 25,000 works of art spread across 30 of ING's head offices and more than 1,300 bank branches worldwide.
The ING Group Collection also includes national art from the countries in which ING is based, including Asian art. As a result, pieces from artists from Australia, China, Japan, India, Philippines and South Korea are part of the collection.
In November 2008, the company is helping to bring the world-renowned Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra to play in China and Japan.
